I love autumn, it’s by far my favourite season. The air becomes crisper, the leaves turn beautiful colours and you can smell a bonfire in the distance.
I suppose autumn really starts at the beginning of September but for me, autumn is all about October. It has atmosphere and of course Halloween, my favourite day of the year is right around the corner.
I don’t fully understand it but Autumn brings out the seasonal haters. I’m a Grinch, not a fan of Christmas but I’d never give anyone grief over it. It’s weirdly gendered hate too. It bothers a lot of people that women love this time of year. They hate our love of oversized cosy jumpers, stepping on crispy golden and red leaves while we pin aesthetically pleasing autumnal images on Pinterest as we drink the necar of the seasonal gods, the glorious pumpkin spice latte.
Just the mere mention of the PSL sends some people into fits of passive aggressiveness. And you know what? I don’t give a fuck. I enjoy the things I enjoy. God forbid women enjoy something. Calling women basic bitches for loving a delicious coffee is just pathetic. And it happens every year. Every. Year.
I think it’s great that I have so many autumnal kindred spirits out there. Let us rejoice in the spookiest season there is!
The end of the year has begun, 2018 is creeping up on us. This year really is flying by so fast.
