What’s your worst habit?
My worst habit…I had to mull this over for a while before I came to the conclusion that my worst habit is linked to my mental health.
My worst habit is I don’t take enough care of myself.
When I’m in a depressive state, I am my last priority. I couldn’t care less about myself.
I let my prescriptions run out.
I don’t eat all day.
I underestimate my pain levels and I overestimate what I can do on a low pain day.
I allow myself to believe the nasty little voice in my head that tells me I’m not good enough.
I don’t take my medications regularly.
I isolate myself by not reaching out to friends.
The list goes on and on….
It’s a habit I need to stop. I need to practice self care regularly and take it seriously. Self care isn’t just about taking time out to do your nails or take a hot bath – although you should totally do those things if you want to. What I’m talking about is a deeper self care, something that will have long term benefits to my mental health.
The secret to permanently breaking any bad habit is to love something greater than the habit.
This quote really resonated with me and I hope it resonates with you too. I hope you can find it in yourself to love yourself enough to beat your worst habit!
