5 Ways To Bring Positivity Into Your Life!

It’s been a hard couple of days right? Now seems like a good time to talk a little bit about positive thinking.

For most of my life I’ve been a pessimist. It was a form of self protection, if I thought about the worst possible outcome, I wouldn’t be too disappointed if it happened. Sad right? Looking back I think what a waste of energy.

Then 2014 happened. I had some crazy shit go down in my life and I had two choices, crack or fight. I chose to fight and my weapon of choice was positivity.

It wasn’t easy and I still have days where I struggle to remain positive but a quote you’ve no doubt seen reminds me that positive thinking is worth trying. It goes something along the lines of..

‘Being positive or negative takes the same amount of energy, so you may as well be positive.’
So, how do you practice positivity? Here are 5 tips:

Surround yourself with the right people
Negative people zap your energy and it’s easy to get sucked into their way of thinking. It’s time to limit your time with these people and spend more time with the people who make you feel good. The people who support and encourage you, the people who can laugh at life’s twists and turns. The people who make you laugh!

Be grateful
You can be grateful for anything and it’s important to recognise the good things in your life. Your friends, hot and cold clean water in your home, an understanding partner, your job, Netflix – anything!

Practice resilience
If as first you don’t succeed, try try again!
Positive people are able to adapt with ease during adversity and knowing that you can and will ‘bounce back’ is important to remember.

Pay it forward
Share your positivity. This doesn’t mean getting on your soapbox and being some kind of terminally positive in every situation Stepford Wife kinda person. It’s simple things like being kind. Tell someone you love them, encourage people and tell them when you’re proud of them. Treat people how you would like to be treated.

Yakety Yak!
Be aware of how you talk to yourself, be kind to yourself. You need to reinforce the idea that you deserve good things as much as others do. It’s easy to believe in others and push all your positive energy towards others but don’t forget to include you!
Be honest with yourself, but look for the good and recognise the areas you need to improve in.
